Gordon "Gordy" Edward Dickson, age 52 of Fort Frances, passed away peacefully at St. Joseph's Hospital, on Wednesday September 17th, 2014 with his family by his side. Gordy was born in Atikokan on November 2nd, 1961 to Gordon Sr. and Ruth Dickson. Gordy loved life, laughter, the outdoors, his camp, his trade, his family and friends. He lived his life every day and enjoyed everything his way. Gordy was a member of local 628 since 1983 as a Steam Fitter. His last few months were very difficult after developing a rare blood disorder. The Lord saw there was no cure and took our brother, uncle, son and friend home to be with Him. Gordy will be lovingly remembered by his mother Ruth Gresko, his loving friend Marna, his sisters Donna (Pat) MacNeil, Barbara (Jack) Witiluk, and Janet (Travis Northcott) Margarit. Numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins also survive. Gordy was predeceased by his father Gordon Dickson and by his favorite companion Lady. Gordy's family would like to express their great appreciation to the staff at TBRHSC, 4&5 south at St. Joseph's Hospital and especially to Corinne and Cindy on 4 South for their compassion and support; you are both angels and we will never forget your kindness. A very heartfelt and special thank you goes to Gordy's faithful friends who continued to visit him during his illness. Funeral Services for Gordy will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday September 22nd, 2014 in the Chapel of the HARBOURVIEW FUNERAL CENTRE, 499 North Cumberland Street. Family and friends may gather in the Chapel up to one hour prior to service time. In lieu of flower, donations made in Gordy's memory to the Northern Cardiac Fund (TBRHSC), the Alzheimer's Society Thunder Bay Chapter, St. Joseph's Care Group or to a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.
