Graham Gilhooly Obituary

Graham, aged 87, passed away peacefully in his home on Sunday, April 6, 2003.Graham was born in Waldron, Saskatchewan on November 5, 1915 to David and Elizabeth Gilhooly. When Graham was 16 he moved with his family to Goodeve, Saskatchewan where he met Minnie Chlan who was to be his loving wife for 63 years. In 1939, a year after they were married, Graham left for the war. After serving overseas for several years, he was seriously wounded in Holland in 1945. Following a lengthy recovery in hospital he moved to B.C. with his family to start a new life together.Graham was a caring father and is lovingly remembered by his 4 children Charmaine (Bill) Rosa, Daphne (Howard) Pease, Graham (Bonnie) Gilhooly, Dorothy (Ted) Botterill and by13 grandchildren, (predeceased by 1 grandchild), an 12 great grandchildren. Graham had many interests that included hunting, fishing, rock hounding, and camping. Throughout his life he was an avid reader and fostered the enjoyment of books in others, especially his children. Graham enjoyed many rounds of golf with friends, family, and especially his favourite golfing partner, Minnie. In the last few years Graham found a new interest, cooking and baking.He was especially proud of his excellent rhubarb pies and homemade donuts.According to Graham's wishes, cremation has taken place.A memorialservice will be held at Jenkens Funeral Home, 226 S. Syndicate Ave. onSaturday May 3, 2003 at 9:30 a.m.Interment in Riverside Cemeteryalongside Minnie, who predeceased him in May 2000.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to War Amps / Champs would be appreciated by the family.On-line Condolences [email protected]"
