We are deeply saddened to announce that Mr Guiseppe "Pino" Massalin, age 81 years and a resident of Thunder Bay passed away peacefully at home, with his family by his side, on Thursday July 24th, 2014.Pino was born in Fianona Italy in 1932 and later immigrated to Canada in 1951 as a young man. Shortly after arriving in Port Arthur, he married the love of his life Edna and together they raised their family of 5 children. Pino worked in construction for Stead & Linstrom until his retirement in 1988. He then turned his focus to wood crafts, camping, fishing at whitefish lake, travelling and his favorite pass time of all; playing bingo. Pino was an avid clock collector and not only did he like collecting clocks, he also enjoyed sharing his passion for time pieces by giving them as gifts. Pino will be sadly missed by his 2 daughters Ophemia (George) Gillespie and Maria (Ross) Moffet, his three sons Eugene "Flu", Tony "Smiley" (Marie) and Ted, his grandchildren Jennifer Massalin, Tom (Jen) Durbin, Amy-lea, Taylor, Kaitlyn Massalin and Mitchell Elsey, his great grandchildren Mack Thornton, Jocelyn and Rosario, his 2 sisters Nivas Cavallaro of Italy and Rina Mavor of Thunder Bay, his nephew Rossano Cavallaro of Italy, his nieces Lila Davies and Mary Mavor of Thunder Bay.Pino was predeceased by his wife of 44 years; Edna A. Massalin.A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held at the North End Recreation Centre, 954 Huron Avenue, on Thursday July 31st, 2014 from 3:00PM until 8:00 PM. If anyone so desires, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Pino's memory to the George Jeffrey Children's Centre Thunder Bay.On-Line Condolences may be offered
