It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our father Guy Albert Lemieux on October 14, 2008 at the TBRHSC surrounded by family after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's disease and Diabetes. Dad was born on Nov.13 1926 in Somerset, Manitoba and he met and married Georgette Marie Rouire in 1954. Together they moved to Ontario and raised 6 children. Dad started a lengthy career with TransCanada Pipelines in 1954 and was an Inspector at the final weld of the original pipeline in 1958. This year marked the 50th anniversary of that final weld and Dad was recognized for his involvement in Calgary with the unveiling of a Canadian postage stamp to commemorate the event. Unfortunately due to poor health he was unable to attend the ceremony. Dad retired in 1986 as a District foreman at Station 68 after 32 years of dedicated service, however with the pipeline blood in him he continued to work various construction jobs until he fully retired at age 64. He loved to travel, cook family suppers, do woodwork, gardening and he could always be found in the driveway shining his Crown Victoria. Dad will be sorely missed by his 6 children Diane (Ron) Petryna-Lemieux, George (Donna-Mae), Roger (Donna) Calgary Alberta, Gerald (Jo-Anne), Michael (Sylvana), Donald (Elizabeth), 15 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, one sister Florida Labossiere Wpg, Manitoba, one brother Nelson, Wpg, Manitoba and Melinda Melnick, Thunder Bay. Dad was predeceased by our mother Georgette (1982), grand daughter Kathryn (1988) his parents Nestor and Florence, sisters Floret , Elodie and brothers Euclid, Celest, Omer and Fred. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 17th when family and friends will gather in Corpus Christi R.C. Church for the Funeral Mass beginning at 9:30 a.m. celebrated by Rev. Richard Kowalchuk. Visitation for friends will be from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday in the Sargent & Son Funeral Chapel, 21 N. Court Street where the Vigil Service will begin at 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Society or Diabetes Association. On-line condolences may be made at
