HELEN JESSIE HOOKE
Mrs. Helen Jessie Hooke (Szura), age 80 years, born October 31, 1944 in Fort William Ontario and life long resident of Thunder Bay passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 16, 2025.

She was employed as a Laboratory Technologist for the Ministry of Health and retired after 32 years of service. She later went back went back to college to become a PSW and went to work in the Long Term Care homes.

Helen had many hobbies; she enjoyed sewing, knitting and baking. She had an eye for colour matching and created the most beautiful quilts, each of her children & grandchildren have unique quilts that they will treasure.

Helen's biggest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren and many family dogs over the years.

Helen is survived by her children Turalee Hooke and Chris (Marla) Hooke, her grandchildren; Rhys Hooke, Ture Cloutier-Hooke, Luke Cloutier-Hooke, Madilyn Hooke and Hannah Hooke, brothers and sisters-in-law: Lou Szura, Gary Hooke, Sharon (Robin) Harris, Linda Donely, and Betty Lou Hooke, as well as many nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by her loving husband Terrence Hooke of 47 years, when he passed in 2014, her brother Joseph Szura, sister-in-law Cheryl Hooke, brothers-in-law Gary Donely and Wayne Hooke. She was also predeceased by her parents Joseph and Sophie Szura and her parents in law Terry and Dorothy Hooke.

Cremation has already taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. If so desired, in lieu of flowers, donations to the Thunder Bay Humane Society or Paws for Love Dog Rescue would be greatly appreciated.

Condolences to the family. Helen was a great coworker and was fair and firm as a supervisor. A good person.
