Ida Chimenti Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of Ida Maria Chimenti (Bisignano) announce her peaceful passing at St. Joseph's Hospital with her family by her side on Monday, May 23rd 2022. Ida was born on November 28,1936, in Luzzi, Cosenza, Italy. She was the 6th of 9 children born to Giuseppe and Concetta Bisignano. Ida immigrated to Canada in 1964, with her husband and two small children. Three more children were born in Canada. Ida was devoted to her family, especially her five children and eight grandchildren who she treasured very much. She was a kind, humble woman with a big heart who treated everyone with love and respect. She loved to cook and have friends and family over which brought her great joy. Many fond memories were made at their camp at Sturgeon Bay, where family and friends would gather to enjoy the homemade pizzas and bread made in her brick oven. You could smell the aroma all throughout the bay. Many of her vegetables she grew in her huge garden were incorporated into her delicious meals. Ida is lovingly remembered by her husband Michele of 64 years, her children Saverio (Gina), Mario (Christine), Alba (Rob) Glena, Laura (Nick) Pucci and Oscar. Grandchildren, Danielle, Nicole, Michelle, Victor (Megan), Patrick, (mother Bonnie), Sara Glena, Milana and Michael Pucci. Also survived by her two brothers, Silvio (Carolina), Mario (Anna), sister Rita (Guido) in Italy, sister in laws Elvira and Franca. In Europe she is survived by Gaitano (Carmela), Teresa, Franco (Rosetta). Predeceased by her parents Guiseppe and Concetta, in laws Saverio and Maria, brothers Salvatore (Ida), Emilio (Gerarda), Guerino, Frank (Assunta), Elio, brother in laws Achille and Guiseppe as well as several nephews and a niece. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 28, 2022 at 9:30 am at St. Dominic's Church with visitation 1 hour prior. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Charity of Your Choice.
