Imelda Nabigon Obituary

Strong Flying Bald Eagle Woman” On Sunday, October 4, 2015, Imelda began her journey to the spirit world, to meet her ancestors that walked before her. Imelda's spirit and love will continuously be felt in the hearts of her life long partner, Gunther Kusserow, their son Ian Nabigon (Christine), grandson Reese, stepdaughter Kelly Baker (Cory), her siblings Alvina Michano (Arnold), Wilfred (Kathleen), Stanley (Alice), Dephine, Dorothy, Darcy, Chris (Susan), Darlene and Adele. Along with her extended family and special group of friends, Imelda's presence and cherished memories, will forever be a guide in celebrating the trials and tribulations of life. Imelda walked with a strong belief in the spiritual world. She was a devote believer in the Creator and sought out to establish and maintain a strong relationship that provided her much strength and courage throughout her life. She looked to the spirit world and prayer for direction, comfort and love. She loved life and with determination she set out to ensure she embraced every moment, especially during her battle with her illnesses. Despite her own challenges, she openly and freely gave of her time and love, to everyone in her life. Always considering others, she continuously extended her love and support. Imelda loved visiting and very much enjoyed her card playing. Many long hours were spent with her friends enjoying some tea, good conversation and laughter. She was a competitive card player, who enjoyed the challenge of the game. Imelda also loved her trips to the casinos with her most cherished friends. Up until the very end, she embraced every opportunity to continue to fill this passion. Her spirit was filled with humor – always being silly, she has left us with memories that will forever bring us happiness and smiles. Imelda understood the importance of laughter and was always sharing her unique sense of humor. She especially enjoyed the special times and laughter shared with her grandson. Reese was the love of her life. Imelda will continue to live in the hearts of those who were fortunate to be touched by this remarkable Nishnaabe-kwe. Great comfort comes from knowing she is reunited with her parents, Ruby and Camille, and all those whom she loved. Her spirit will forever be a source of strength for her family and friends.
