Inga Ruth Strbavy

1930 - 2018

Mrs. Inga Ruth Strbavy (nee Engblom), age 88 years, passed away on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre with her daughter by her side. Inga was born on August 30, 1930 in Driftwood, Ontario to Karl and Sanelma Engblom and spent the first years of her life living in Maalax, Finland. When she was 17 years old, she returned to Canada to care for her ill grandmother and to meet her future husband, Peter. Inga worked hard to provide for her family and was a skilled seamstress, spent hours doing needlepoint, she loved to cook and bake and was highly skilled in knitting. Everyone will miss her slippers and mittens. Inga had many jobs throughout her life, working for the Port Arthur Country Club, Port Arthur General Hospital, and spent most of her career working in ladies wear at K-mart. Employee number 171 was forever retired when she retired. Inga is survived by her son David and daughter Lisa Tabor her grandson Dennis (Shanna), granddaughter Carolyn Veneruzzo (Jason), daughter-in-law Heidi and her beautiful great grandchildren Jaxon, Hayden, Declan and Ella. Inga is predeceased by her husband Peter "Papa", her daughter Joanne, her son Peter and she will be welcomed into heaven by many friends and family who have gone before her. At Inga's request, there will be no service. Cremation has taken place and she will be laid to rest next to her husband at a later date. If friends and family desire, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the George Jeffrey Children's Centre.
