INGA WELDON Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Inga Hannele Weldon (Lahti), born on July 3rd, 1958 in Port Arthur, Ontario. Our beloved wife, mother, mummu, sister, aunt and friend gained her wings on January 28th, 2025.
Inga was predeceased by her parents Matti and Ilona Lahti, mother and father-in-law Margaret (Betty) and Howard Weldon as well as her best friend, Paivi Mengelberg.
Inga, a long time resident of the Lappe community enjoyed the outdoors and peacefulness of home at Island Lake. She was a phenomenal fisher woman who was proud of her Finnish roots.
Inga grew up on Junot Avenue where all of the neighbourhood kids joined like one big family. Inga attended Algonquin Public School followed by Hammarskjold High School. She later graduated from the travel and tourism program at Confederation College and worked as a travel agent for many years. Inga enjoyed an early retirement and settled in at the lake.
Inga greeted everyone with a welcoming smile and friendly hug. She enjoyed creating through crochet, gardening, pontoon boat rides, fishing, bonfires on the beach and watching her grandsons play.
Inga will be lovingly missed by her husband Howard (Bruce) Weldon, daughters Sheena (Eric) Hamilton and Elissa (Ryan) King as well as her three grandsons Connor, Chris and Kruze who were the light of her life. Also missing her are sister Anne (Kari) Makela, several nieces, nephews, extended family and the friends who became family.
A special thank you to the entire ICU team at TBRHSC and the caring nurses on 3B.
A Celebration of Life for Inga will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Thunder Bay District Humane Society.

I was shocked to learn of Inga's passing. My deepest condolences to all of you.
I grew up in the same great neighbourhood as Inga, our Aitis Ilona and Eila were close friends. I didn't see Inga often in our later years but when I did I enjoyed talking with her, she always had a big smile and I loved her laugh.

Inga Lahti and I went to Algonquin school together as well as Hammerskjold high school. I remember her as being I tiny little girl with a sweet sole. Lost touch with her for many years as we became adults, only to reconnect at Island Lake when my husband and I were invited to contribute and watch fireworks from their home on Island lake. It was that night that Inga and I remembered each other from many years ago. Our thoughts and prayers are with her husband and family
