INGE ERIKA HOLMES
With tears in our eyes, we announce the passing of our mom and nana, Inge Erika Holmes, age 79 years of Thunder Bay. Inge passed away unexpectedly at her home on February 11, 2024. Just two months shy of her 80th Birthday. Inge was born in Dorsten, Germany on April 8, 1944, and came to Canada with her parents Walter and Erika Schuster in 1954. Inge will be deeply missed by her children David, Glen and Tammy (Ken), and grandchildren Chris and Courtney (Shawn) who all reside in Thunder Bay. As well as many other friends and family members.
Inge was happiest when spending time with her family and cooking them her special German dishes. A family favorite was always the Rinderroulade (rouladen). Watching wrestling and hockey or crocheting scarves and Afghan blankets for family, friends and those in need.
Inge enjoyed cooking so much, she made a career out of it by preparing meals for those in need at The Salvation Army where she worked for many years.
A sincere thank you goes out to the paramedics and hospital staff of the TBRHSC and SJCG who provided care for Inge when she was unwell. Thank you to John Bryan and staff from Everest funeral home and Simpler Times for their compassion during this difficult time.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Simpler Times Cremation Centre, 575 Central Ave., Thunder Bay, ON.

I worked with Inge at the Salvation Army´s men´s residence in the old building as her supervisor for a few years. She was a very caring person and loved her work in preparing meals for both residents and staff.

Inge was a beautiful lady. We lived across the hall from each other for a number of years and I enjoyed our chats daily. Her kindness will not be forgotten. My sincere condolences to the family she left behind. I am so sorry for your loss.
