JACK COMER
Jack William Comer, age 71 years, of Thunder Bay, passed away peacefully with family by his side on Monday, September 15 at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre.
Jack was born on October 28, 1953 in Thunder Bay to his loving parents Billa Flint (Billy) and Stella Comer (née Talbot). He loved his parents greatly and always spoke so highly of them and the loving life they gave him.
Jack grew up in Westfort, attended Kingsway Park School and Westgate High School. The friends he made became lifelong pals and many adventures were had together. He stayed in the family home his whole life and neighbours became friends whom he helped out in various capacities and was so grateful and happy about the baking and treats that were given to him in return for all that he did.
He cherished his time at Shebandowan Lake, and all across northern Ontario, enjoying hunting, fishing, and the beauty of the outdoors with friends and family. Jack also held a special connection to England, his mother's birthplace and the place where his parents first met. His many trips there always ended with a treasured model boat coming home with him.
Jack began his career as a carpenter and went on to become a Second Class Engineer, an accomplishment of which he was deeply proud. When he retired as a Stationary Engineer from Thunder Bay Mill in 2011, he made the most of his retirement by continuing his love of the outdoors and spending a lot of time at camp, fishing and hunting. He kept busy with new hobbies such as making fishing tackle, bike riding, spending time on the computer learning new things, and keeping up his passion for history by watching documentaries and old movies.
Jack is going to be missed dearly and will always be remembered with love by his family and friends. His legacy lives on in the stories shared, the friendships forged, and the love of family and the outdoors that defined his life.
He was predeceased by his parents Billy and Stella Comer. Cremation has taken place, and interment will take place privately as per Jack's request. If you so wish, donations can be made to a
Charity of Your Choice in memory of Jack.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Simpler Times Cremation Centre, 575 Central Avenue, Thunder Bay.
