Jack Walczak Obituary

Mr. Jack Andrew Walczak died May 21, 2005 at T.B.R.H.S.C after a lengthy illness. He was born on September 14, 1924 in Port Arthur, Ontario. He joined the R.C.N.V.R. at 17 years of age; serving on the destroyer HMCS Qu'Appele in the North Atlantic. After being discharged he worked at the Port Arthur District Jail. He joined the Port Arthur Police Dept. in 1953, later the Thunder Bay Police Dept. , retiring in 1982. He was a life long member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #5, and the Municipal Retirees Organization Ontario. He was a member of the Thunder Bay Naval Association. Survived by his wife of 55 years Eva (nee Wirtanen); children Carol Ann, Jack (Jamie) & Marta (Martin) Bachynski of Thunder Bay; Grandchildren Kristopher, Melisa, Alexander, Samantha & Lexie; Nieces Patsy Soderholm, Lynn Jensen, & numerous other nieces, nephews & cousins; Sisters'-in-law Val Walczak, Mirjam Taylor, Lisa Legros & Brother-in-law Tom Legros. Predeceased by his parents John & Reta Walczak, sister Victoria Miller; brother Albert, brothers'-in-law Doug Siddall, Walter Miller & Ronald Taylor; nephew Brian Siddall & niece Crystal Lesovich. According to Jack's wishes, cremation has taken place. A Memorial luncheon will be held Thursday, May 26, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #5, Van Norman Street. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Lung Association; Port Arthur Branch 5, Legion Building Fund; or charity of your choice."
