JAMES AULD Obituary

AULD, JAMES MICHAEL
With deep sorrow we announce the passing of James Michael Auld (Michael) on March 26, 2024, at Queen's Garden LTC Home, following a lengthy illness, with wife Karen at his side.

Born July 30,1942 in Toronto to Mildred and James Auld, Michael grew up in Maple, near Toronto. Michael is survived by wife Karen, stepsons Stephen, Kevin and Robin Crane, sons Riley and Joseph Auld (Ella, Gracie), sister Margaret (Eric) Brown, nephew Alasdair (Jen) Brown (Lillian, Evan). Michael was predeceased by his parents, Aunt Edna and Uncle Evan Jacob.

Michael was passionate about forestry, obtained a Bachelor of Science (5 year) in Forestry at the U of NB, then began his career with the Department of Lands and Forests (ON). But Michael wasn't one for rules and so, in 1976, joined the newly launched Buchanan Forest Products where he found the challenges and creative opportunities to fulfill his passion.

In 1999 he met the love of his life Karen (Clifton) Crane. They were married in 2003 and together enjoyed life to the fullest, traveled extensively, sailed, and spent time at our lovely Silver Islet cottage. Here Michael formed his fondest memories, with family and friends, working in his garage, hiking, building, and those yearly fishing trips to Stone Lake with his buddies. Then vascular dementia stole this life and these memories.

Michael, although you lost these memories, your family and friends will not. You will be forever in our hearts.

Michael has been cremated. A small family Celebration of Life will be held in Burlington, April 20, 2024, at 1244 Sable Drive, starting 2:00 pm. There will also be a Celebration of Life in Thunder Bay on June 1, 2024, Prince Arthur Hotel, 1:00 to 4:00 pm, with refreshments served in the Provincial Room.
