James David Cronk, lifelong resident of O'Connor Twsp. passed away peacefully on March 8th, 2012 after a courageous battle with C.O.P.D. His family was by his side. Jim was born on May 16th, 1944 in Fort William, Ontario. He attended public school in O'Connor and high school at Selkirk C.V.I. After graduating, Jim had a few short-term jobs before signing on with CP Rail in 1966. He started as a Brakeman and then moved on to become a Conductor. After his retirement in 1994 Jim was able to enjoy his many hobbies and interests. Whether it was fishing, gardening, camping, woodworking or working on cars Jim was always active. He was always up for a game of cribbage or bingo! He had a part-time job at the O'Connor Waste Disposal site where he enjoyed interacting with his neighbours. He was a dedicated member and volunteer at the Kakabeka Legion which he took great pride in. Jim is survived by his wife of 41 years, Diane; children Jason (Jenny Syrjanen) and Jennifer (Bill) Currie. His three wonderful grandchildren Breanne, Landon and Adam. They were his treasures and they always brought a smile to his face. Siblings Betty Squirrell of Kamloops, Alan (Sandra) Cronk of Wyoming, ON, Elsie (Dave) Fernie and Jerry (Lora) Cronk. Brothers-in-law Deryl (Donna) Green, Fred Green, Marvin (Christie) Green of Edmonton, and Brad (Marney) Green of Edmonton. sisters-in-law Glenda (Rick) Bodnar and Heather (Mark) Rut. Numerous nieces, nephews and close friends also survive. Predeceased by parents David and Mildred Cronk, brother-in-law John Squirrell, in-laws Bert and Doris Green and sister-in-law Tracey Green. Our family wishes to thank Dr. Beaton and the nurses of 2A at TBRHSC for their excellent care and compassion. A memorial will be held on Thursday, March 15th, 2012 at the Kakabeka Legion at 11:00 am. Internment to follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jim's honour to the
Lung Association, O'Connor Volunteer Fire Dept. or the Kakabeka Legion.His toil is past, his work is done, and he is fully blest;He fought the fight, the victory won, and entered into rest."
