James Pearce Obituary

Mr. James “Jim” Pearce, 96 1/2 years, passed away Sunday, September 26, 2021 at Southbridge Pinewood – Blue Heron Wing. Jim was a lifelong resident of Westfort, having lived and raised his family on Amelia Street. A Navy Veteran of WWII on the HMCS Dunvegan of which he was always proud to speak about. Jim was an employee of the City of Thunder Bay, working for several years as the Foreman of Centennial Park. He worked as a union rep for CUPE and later dealt with arbitrations for them, which he conducted several years into his retirement. In his later retirement, he enjoyed his time spent at the local casino. Jim loved sports and could always be found watching the Leafs or the Bluejays. In his younger years he coached Elk's PeeWee hockey. His grandchildren benefited from Grandad's taxi service to whatever destination they needed. Whether it was a ride home from school, ride to work or ride to 7am hockey practice, Jim was always available and loved to help to get his grandchildren where they needed to be. Predeceased by the love of his life, his wife Mary, 2004, and his daughter Linda, 2011. He is survived by two sons, Larry (Linda) and Gordon, granddaughters Amy and Anna, grandsons Jeff, Andrew and Christopher (Mandy), David and Kevin, great grandchildren Jersey, Christopher, Brooklyn, Olivia and Blaine and great great grandson Jordan, as well as special son-in-law Jim. Special thanks to the staff of the Blue Heron unit for their care and compassion over the last 4 years and to his caregivers Joanne, Wendy and Debbie of Superior Elder Care. A private graveside service will be held at a later date. Memorial donations to a charity of your choice.
