1974 – 2022
It is with great sadness our family shares the news of the sudden passing of James, age 48, in the early morning hours of July 28, 2022. He will be remembered by many for his love of his family, contagious smile, sparkling dark brown eyes, and his eager selflessness to lend a helping hand when needed. James had many passions, including cars and tinkering away in his garage. He took great pride in fixing and repairing things. His most treasured days were the ones he spent hours with his dad and brother, polishing and detailing their family and classic cars; he looked forward to carrying on this tradition with his son, Thomas. He loved being with dad and Christopher, doing renovations around the family homes. There was always a joke that Christopher took things apart and it was James who would put things together again. He also spent many hours chatting in the kitchen while his mother lovingly prepared family meals, sneaking in a nightly pre-dinner ice cream and jokingly asking if the yellow beans were ready yet. James followed in his Gigi's and Baba's and parents' footsteps with having a beautiful yard. His green thumb produced a flourishing, lush garden that mom, dad, James, and Thomas had the pleasure of having fun planting after James planned it out. There was always a big spot to grow giant pumpkins. James was so proud of being a dad to Thomas. Those two were inseparable. James was an active and much-loved member of the Thunder Bay bowling community. He'd worked at three different bowling centers and progressed through and coached in the YBC program. Over the years, he bowled in numerous bowling leagues and competed in many tournaments. His son Thomas shares this passion and is following in his daddy's footsteps in YBC. James met his wife Megan in 2007 while they were both employed at Mario's Bowl. They felt an instant connection and finally tied the knot in 2018. The day before the wedding, James and mom cleaned, waxed and polished his car until you could see your reflection. He wanted to make sure Megan's chariot shone and sparkled before she got in. He leaves behind his wife Megan (Rawson) and their son Thomas (7), his parents Michael and Sylvia (Karpowicz) Shperuk, his brother Christopher (Andrea) Shperuk, and his uncle Jerry Shperuk. James has been cremated and is resting at home with his family. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Words, support, and friendship are asked for the family at this time.
