2023
It is with much sadness that we announce the passing of Jamie Michael Daniels (aka JR) on January 29th, 2023. Jamie was born on July 2nd, 1959 in Fort William, Ontario. Jamie was a mischievous teenager who loved hunting, fishing, downhill ski jumping and his motorcycle. When he was 16, he was a victim in a major motor vehicle accident that changed his life forever. The majority of things that he once loved were now out of reach. Jamie developed new passions which included helping out around the family home. He was meticulous with his snow cleaning, grass cutting and general cleaning. He was a tremendous help to his parents. He remained passionate about fishing at the Batwing Lake family camp and developed a new love for bowling and pool. He very much enjoyed listening to the Doobie Brothers, walking, and eating cheeseburgers. He was fortunate enough to spend the majority of his life at the family home on Brown Street. He stayed there with his “Ma” and “Pa” until his Dad's untimely passing in 2014. He then acquired his own apartment with the BISNO group
where he enjoyed a different level of independence. He was very brave and courageous. He enjoyed life to the fullest even though the cards were stacked against him. He was a role model for all who knew him. He never complained but had so many reasons to do so.
He was predeceased by his dad Dave and older brother Davey. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his mom Jackie, his siblings Sheri (Dave Hatcher), Shaun (Josie) and Melanie (Brian Graba), his very best friend Sharlene Marchinski and her partner Barry Drew, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and a large extended family.
The family would like to take the time to thank the staff at BISNO especially Nancy Allard and Betty Romu who ensured his life had the quality he deserved. We would also like to thank Dr. Sabrina Slade and the nursing staff on 1A for their care and concern.
Private interment and an intimate Celebration of Life for Jamie will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to BISNO McKellar Place, 325 South Archibald St, to improve the quality of life to those who have made it their home.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Simpler Times Cremation Centre, 575 Central Avenue, Thunder Bay.
