Mr. Jan H. Jucha, aged 77 years, passed away after a lengthy illness at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre on Monday, September 15, 2008. Jan was born on April 27, 1931 in Poland and immigrated to Canada in 1950, where he met and married the love of his life, Anna (Tiboni). Jan is survived by his wife Anna; daughter Cindy Miller (Pat); son Ken Jucha (Debbie) of Winnipeg and step-grandson Corey Sadler of Winnipeg. He is also survived by his brother Ted Jucha (Marila) of Gransville, New York and three sisters Lucia Koziol (Frank) of Paw Paw, Michigan, Balbina of Germany and Wisia of Poland as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Jan was employed at Port Arthur Ship Building Company, McLeod & Jessiman Engineering, J.U. Calonego Construction and retired after 26 1/2 years at the Great Lakes Paper Company. Jan was a master craftsman and enjoyed countless hours in his garage, working on many projects for friends and family. He enjoyed spending time with his family, evenings in the garage with friends and neighbours and Saturday morning coffee at A & W. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service for Mr. Jucha will be held at St. Dominic's Church, Redwood Avenue, on Thursday, September 18, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. A private interment will take place at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
