JANE ORYSCHAK
We are saddened to announce the peaceful passing of Jane Oryschak on Tuesday, December 16, 2025 at Hogarth Riverview Manor in Thunder Bay.
Jane was born on February 8, 1936 in Franklin, Manitoba.
Jane had a lifelong passion for cooking that touched countless lives. Throughout her long and varied career, she worked in the food industry at bush camps, the Royal Edward Hotel, Red Oak Inn, and Victoria Inn. She owned and operated the Riccardo Mexican Store and several other enterprises. Above all, she was renowned for her exceptional perogies and cabbage rolls, which she lovingly prepared and sold, always delighting family, friends and customers with her homemade specialties.
Jane possessed a truly giant heart and was deeply committed to helping those in need. For years, she generously supported a family through Wesway, offering kindness, care and nourishment to anyone who crossed her path.
She will be deeply missed by her daughter-in-law Annie; her grandsons Nick (Danielle) and Chris (Alexa); and her great grandchildren Michael and Ava.
Jane was predeceased by her husband Frank (1988) and her only child Dennis (2000).
A special thank you to the wonderful staff on 4 North at Hogarth Riverview Manor for their compassionate care over the past three years, and to all those who visited.
As per her wishes, cremation has taken place. A private family gathering will be held at a later date.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Simpler Times Cremation Centre, 575 Central Avenue, Thunder Bay.
