JANET DUMAS Obituary

JANET DUMAS
It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our dear sweet mother, Janet Marion Dumas, with family by her side on July 2, 2025.

Mom was born June 11, 1935 in Hearst, Ontario to parents Nelson and Ruby Garnett (deceased).

She was predeceased by her husband Yvon, son Jamie and siblings Gordon, Joanie, Nancy, Elaine, Doreen and Nelson.

Janet is survived by children Debbie Whillans (Bruce), Bonnie Wakewich (Steve), Brian Whillans (Cory) and Wendy Stajkowski (Norman). Also surviving are her grandchildren Jordan (Breanne), Trevor (Julie), Chase (Allison), Reid (Payton) and Anya, great grandchildren Eliana, Ronan, Alyvia and her siblings Lyla, Peggy, Jack, Tom, their families, in-laws and nieces and nephews.

In her younger years mom was an RNA in Atikokan, an occupation she was immensely proud of. After leaving she took on the full time job of raising her five children. Anyone who knew mom knew how much she loved her shopping, her plants and gardening, her home in the country and walking the trails with grandkids.

The family would like to thank the staff at Hilldale and Hogarth (Birch) for their wonderful care and compassion for mom.

Cremation has taken place and a private celebration will be held at a later date.

If family and friends so desire donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society.

We begin to remember Not just that you died But that you lived And that your life Gave us memories Too beautiful to forget

I'm sorry to hear of the passing of your Mom. She was such a light every week coming over to Mom & Dad's house for tea. Always asking "where we went shopping and the deals of the week she found" I wish you all healing from this. We all know too well what a great loss losing it Mother's is. Peace to all who loved her!

May her memory be a blessing, always.

She was a wonderful neighbour and friend to our Mom and was so welcoming when Jamie and I would get into shenanigans! I remember the big wooden spoon and fork on her kitchen wall. And the beaded curtain to the living room, which was so full of gorgeous house plants.

Condolences for the family. I recall good memories of you all. A great Mom and wife who set a good example for me. Always kind, and willing to open her home to me. Like a second family. Always cherished.
