JANIS LEE GILLIS
It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Janis Lee Gillis, 53, beloved daughter, sister and aunt who has left us to be with her father Duncan on January 25th, 2026 surrounded by her loving family at St. Joseph's Hospice. Janis was born February 9th, 1972 and was raised and educated in Thunder Bay. She loved life enjoying camping, fishing and hunting with the family and always loved the outdoors. After graduation, Janis worked at various jobs as a salesperson. She worked for Red Apple - The Bargain Shop for many years leaving due to illness. Janis had a very kind heart and would always lend a helping hand.
Survived by her loving mother Mickey, sister Sherrill (Michael) Vander Hooft and niece Amy (Steve) Vander Hooft; aunts Karen Cserged (Frank-deceased), Veronica Mathewson (William-deceased), Mary Lucas (Steve-deceased), Judy Gillis (Patrick-deceased), Nancy Bridgman, good friends Angela Wood - her Friday night shopping partner and Karen Murray. Predeceased by her father Duncan Gillis on December 15th, 2025, grandparents Michael & Stella Lucas and Percy and Frances Gillis.
As per Janis' wishes, there will be no funeral. Cremation has taken place.
Thanks for being a loving daughter, sister & aunt and for all the great times we shared.
