JANICE ANNE DESANDO

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden unexpected passing of Janice Anne Desando at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre on May 2, 2025 with her loving Husband and sons by her side, she left us far too soon at age 63.

Born and raised in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Janice was a devoted wife, loving mother, proud grandmother. She is survived by her husband John, her sons Antonio (Bianca) and Giordano (Scotia), her grandchildren Janessa, Dominic and Walker she was predeceased by her mother Rose and father Penti as well as her godparents Eugenio and Francesca Desando. Her family was the center of her world, and her greatest joy came from spending time with her grandchildren and sharing quiet, meaningful moments with John in their beautiful home.

Janice dedicated over 37 years of her life to caring for others through her work at Lakehead Psychiatric Hospital, where she served in various roles with compassion, professionalism, and unwavering commitment. She touched many lives through her career and her kind, steady presence.

A woman of grace, strength, and faith, Janice lived her life guided by her godparents' values. She embraced the simple pleasures; reading a good book, sitting in the warmth of family, and sharing a kind word. Her positivity and gentle spirit were constant, and her authenticity left a lasting impression on all who knew her.

Janice's legacy lives on in the love she gave, the strength she showed, and the joy she found in everyday life.

A private service will be held at a later date with close family. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to a Charity of Your Choice in Janice's memory.
