JANIS WHITEMAN Obituary
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of a very special lady, Janis Whiteman. She embodied unwavering kindness, determination and resilience. She is predeceased by her beloved daughter, Shelley. She leaves behind many from the realm of Thunder Bay's community: Shelley's best friend; extended family; special neighbours; her First-Wesley Church family; the Lakehead Kennel Club members; and many tbaytel employees. Thank you all for the love and care you bestowed upon Janis. Say farewell on Saturday, January 24 at First-Wesley Church, 130 N. Brodie Street at 11:00 a.m. Reverend Lionel Ketola is officiating. Interment of Janis and Shelley's ashes will be at the Lake of the Woods Cemetery, Kenora, ON, at a later date. Memorial tributes may be made in the form of donations to one of Janis's favourite charities: Thunder Bay Food Bank; Thunder Bay Humane Society; Northern Cancer Fund; and First-Wesley United Church.
We are grateful for the time we were able to share with someone we so dearly loved and respected.

JANIS & I JOINED THE FRIENDSHIP/SERVICE ORGANIZATION CALLED "BETA SIGM PHI" MANY YEARS AGO IN OUR CITY. OVER THE DECADES WE BECAME CLOSE FRIENDS THROUGH OUR MANY SOCIAL AND CHARITABLE ACTIVITIES. I WILL MISS HER GENTLE DEMEANOUR, AND LOVING HEART.

Janis was a dear friend. She has left wonderful memories that go back decades. She was the type of friend that even over the miles you were never really apart. She will be deeply missed. It is comforting to know she and Shelley are together again.
