Janot Chalifoux Obituary

It is with sadness that the family announces that Janot Gilbert Chalifoux, 79, of Ignace, Ontario, formerly of Hurkett, Ontario passed away Sunday, January 5, 2014 in the Dryden Regional Health Centre. Janot worked throughout Quebec and Ontario in the Canadian Forestry Industry until his retirement in Ignace where he continued to reside. Janot loved to socialize especially at the local coffee shop. He was a traditional country music fan and was often was known to putter on his violin and harmonica. He was also fond of travelling to Quebec to visit family and friends. He was predeceased by his wife Marie, son Jean-Guy, and his four siblings Laura Dumont, Simon Chalifoux, Simone Sanscousy and Jean-Paul Chalifoux. He is survived by his daughter Danielle Chalifoux and her husband Robert Gauthier of Papineauville, Quebec, daughter Ginette Nichols of Thunder Bay, son Pierre Chalifoux of Sault Ste. Marie, and daughter Rachel Chalifoux and her partner Michael Wilson of London, Ontario. He is also survived by grandchildren Eric, Ginger, Bradley, Trevor, Jeremy, Kelly, Dana-Ann and Pierre Jr., great granddaughter Ella-Marie, and daughter-in-law Ann-Marie Laroque and her son Allan. A viewing will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, January 10, 2014 at the Elliott Funeral Home Ltd., Nipigon. The funeral mass for Janot Chalifoux will follow at 1:00 P.M. at the Church of the Annunciation, Nipigon with Father Donn Adaza officiating. Interment will be in Hurkett United Cemetery followed by a gathering of family and friends at the Hurkett Community Centre. Memorial donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Ontario."
