Jean Evans Obituary
Jean Lillian Evans passed away October 18, 2013. Born November 20, 1918 in Port Arthur, daughter of Chris and Evelyn Wilson, she is pre-deceased by parents, twin brothers Harold and Bob and husband Jack D. Evans (former owner of JB Evans Fashions and Footwear). Jean received her degree in physiotherapy from the University of Toronto and worked at McKellar Hospital for most of her career, being the head of the department for a period of time. Her love of life and people kept her active in the First Wesley United church and the UCW. She was a long standing member of the Soroptimists of Thunder Bay. She and Jack enjoyed many summers at the family camp at Birch Beach. Jean's many loves included needlepoint and knitting, crossword puzzles and books from the local library. Her condo balcony boasted a small but lovingly cared for garden of flowers and herbs. Because of her love for animals, she held a special affection towards all the families' dogs and cats. Jean is survived by her children Bruce, Bob (Sandy), David (Lynne) and Barb (Jack) Moro. Her grandchildren Karen Lynn Evans, Janet Evans, Jeannie Clews, Lenore Brady, Colin Moro, Darryl Moro, Ian (Katie) Moro and Andrew (Kayla) Moro as well as 7 great grandchildren. Family gatherings brought her much joy and happiness. Heartfelt thanks to the nurses and doctors on 2A and 3A at the TBRHSC and especially to Dr Droll for his compassion and understanding. Also thanks to her many friends and neighbours in the community and at her home in Glengowan. A memorial service for family and friends will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday October 22nd at First Wesley Church with Rev. Stevenson officiating. Interment will be held at a later date in Mountain View Cemetery. If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, donations to First Wesley United Church, the Humane Society or a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated by the family. Those we love don't go away. They walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, but always near. Still loved, still missed and forever dear. "
