Jean McDonald Obituary

JEAN McDONALD May 13, 1933 - September 20, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Jean McDonald announce her peaceful passing at the age of 92. Jean was a beloved mother, grandmother, Nana and friend. She is survived by her Children Sharon (John) Blaicher, Wendy (Lance) Jonson, Janice McDonald, Wayne (Lisa) McDonald. 8 Grandchildren Alana, Cory, Christina, Daryl, Casey, Joel, Kelly, Logan and Quinn. 13 great grandchildren. Who were the centre of her world, each of whom brought her immense pride and Joy. She was raised in Hudson, Ontario, moved to Thunder Bay, where she met the love of her life, Arthur McDonald who celebrated 62 years together. Her earlier years she worked at Mitchell's Drug Store in Current River, later working at Port Arthur Clinic and then volunteering at the Cancer Centre. Her faith was important to her. An avid member of the Current River United Church, where she sang in the choir. She enjoyed life, travel, lunch dates, entertaining friends, bowling camping at Mirror Lake, and knitting continuous outfits for family. We will miss our Christmas mitts. She is predeceased by her husband Arthur. Her parents Helen and George Lechkoon. Also in laws Betty and Vic Hacio, Helen and Bob Keighley, Joyce and Howard Nistico. Jean's greatest joy in life was her family. Her home was always filled with love, stories, and the comforting rhythm of her knitting needles. She will be remembered for her deep devotion for those she loved. As per her wishes cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all that knew her. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to a Charity of Your Choice.
