JEFFREY TULLOCH Obituary

JEFFREY (JEFF) TULLOCH
Jeff Tulloch, age 80, died at home on April 18, 2025, with his wife of 55 years, Carole, by his side. Jeff was born in Port Arthur but spent most of his life in Ohio. Although he had great success developing office buildings, distribution and retail centers, this is a tribute to his exuberant personality.

Although he had no children, he loved his nieces and nephews. Laurence, Nancy, Rebecca and Adam (from Canada) and Andrew, McKenna, Logan and Connor (from Arizona) visited often. Jeff talked to them as adults, allowing them to experiment and develop new skills. He taught them about archery and how to make a bow. He took them fossil hunting. He "borrowed" a horse when Rebecca showed an interest, and she spent the day riding around our property and subdivision. He would pile the kids in his convertible, our dog riding shotgun, and take off to get the "best fried chicken in the world" -- at an obscure gas station in Clinton County. He was the best and greatest uncle.

Jeff was spontaneous and never met a stranger. Within a week of us moving into our home, he had cut a trail through our woods to the farm behind us which resulted in a lifelong friendship with the Pinell family. As a result, Bill provided yearly hayrides around his farm for Jeff's Rotary Club which we host every year. That same year, we experienced a rare whiteout snowstorm. Jeff immediately hitched our Siberian Husky to a homemade sled and delivered "survival" rations of beer to our neighbors. That crazy Canadian!

He had the ability to remember everybody's name. During all his recent hospitalizations, surgeries and physical therapies, he made a point of knowing and addressing everyone by name, whether a nurse's aide or a surgeon. As a result, everyone was rooting for his recovery. After his brother Laurie's death, he was the one who two to three times a week kept in touch by phone or text with his sister-in-law, Joanne and his sister, Mary Ann.

Jeff's interests were wide and varied. He was constantly building things down our basement from simple bird houses to a 27-foot cedar strip canoe to new kitchen cabinets for his mom, which we transported to Canada and installed. Unfortunately, he wasn't so good at cleaning up the basement after each project!

He has owned five boats from a 33-foot sailboat which we sailed from Sandusky over to Canada every weekend, followed by 4 inboard and outboard motorboats. He also enjoyed riding his various motorcycles (playing Willie Nelson's On the Road Again) until he laid down his Harley and dislocated his shoulder and finally decided he was too old. He enjoyed fly fishing (kept Orvis in business) and was an avid competitive and tactical shooter which led to an extensive gun collection. In later years he bought, rehabbed then sold numerous cars, mostly sports cars which although were increasingly getting more difficult to get in and out of did not curb his enthusiasm.

Jeff was preceded in death by his parents, Laurence and Ann, by his brother Laurie and all his aunts and uncles in Thunder Bay. As was his wish, there will be no public service.

Jeff and I had a wonderful 55 years together. He indulged my love of gardening and was proud of my efforts. He begrudged me for nothing, took no interest in how much money we had or what I spent. He made me laugh. But best of all he constantly told me he loved me and that I was beautiful, even as I became wrinkled and silver haired. What more could you wish for. I will miss him dearly and his dynamic presence.

My deepest condolences to Jeff's family. I knew Jeff from Lakeview High School in Port Arthur
Ontario. I often think of the time he and I were almost caught smoking in the art room by the principal when the art teacher was out of the room.
He always had a smile and also a great sense of humour. From what I read, not much had changed in that respect. Rest in peace Jeff.

I still remember Jeff from over 70 years ago.
I´m guessing we were 8 or 10 yrs old.
We lived a few doors apart and were fast friends all thru public school.
He is in the front row left of the little girl and I am between her and big brother Laurie who is holding their little sister Mary Ann.
We have remained friends all these years and I could write pages about how great a friend he was. Ever smiling and full of good humour he was a pleasure to hang out with.
Carole and Mary Ann I would like to send my sincere condolences for your loss.
