Jo-Anne Jacobson Obituary

1943-2021

Pamela Jo-Anne Jacobson, (nee Dagg), passed away peacefully at Lakehead Manor, Thunder Bay, Ontario on June 30, 2021. Born on November 2nd, 1943 in Montreal, Quebec, she moved with her parents and older brother to Holland, Manitoba in 1944. In 1949, she began her education in the school attended by her father, Walter Dagg and all her aunts and uncles. The family moved to Thunder Bay (Fort William), Ontario in 1951 and Jo-Anne attended Kingsway Park K-8, FWCI, and graduated from McKellar School of Nursing in 1965. She was employed at McKellar General Hospital and several nursing homes, and Lakehead Manor for twenty years until she retired at age 60. She was a faithful member of the Broadway United Church family. In earlier years, she attended Brownies and Girl Guides, achieving her Gold Cord.

Jo-Anne always kept in touch with her friends and relatives in Manitoba, Ontario and the United States. For example, in 2007, she attended the celebration for coinciding 100th birthdays of her uncle Frank Dagg and his wife Lillian (Morrison) Dagg in Ottawa. After retirement, Jo-Anne lived for several years at Sister Leila Greco Apartments in Thunder Bay where she was reunited with many of her friends and acquaintances. She was admitted to Long Term Care in 2020.

Jo-Anne was a devoted mother and will be missed terribly by her daughter Judith Gayle (Jacobson) Dawson of Thunder Bay, her brother James Lindsay Dagg and his wife Jillian Dagg of Fort Erie, Ontario, and by her many cousins and friends. She was predeceased by husband Glenn Jacobson, parents Louise and Walter Dagg, mother-in-law Mary Jacobson, and son-in-law Dan Dawson.

A private Funeral Service will be held in her honour on Monday, July 5, 2021 in the Chapel of Harbourview Funeral Centre. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Thunder Bay and District Humane Society or charity of choice.

“God called home an Angel.
Underneath are the everlasting arms.”
