JODY TAURO Obituary

JODY JOSEPH TAURO September 18, 1956 ~ July 16, 2025 Only child of Sergio Tauro and Joy Zegil (deceased), was born in Port Arthur, Ontario. Jody passed away in Hospice at Boundary Trails Hospital, with family by his side, in Winkler, Manitoba.

Survived by his wife Catherine and daughter Katrina Barr (Brad) and grandchildren Farryn and Layne; and family and friends too numerous to mention.

Jody's focus from an early age was survival and "watching out for the underdog." He spent the majority of his life working with children, teens and families striving to help them move forward with a positive outlook and goals for the future. Jody never avoided work, even if he had no previous experience. He was always trying to be useful and helpful.

Jody's unconventional approach to life kept people wondering what he might say or do next! However, no one who took the time to get to know him at his core was ever disappointed in the friend they made in Jody.

Celebration of Life will be held at Winkler Mennonite Church on August 1, 2025, at 11am.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to One Hope Canada - Dorion Bible Camp, or a Charity of Your Choice, in honour of Jody's lifelong commitment to helping others. https://onehopecanada.givingfuel.com/dorion

"We are like books. Most people only see our cover, the minority read only the introduction, many people believe the critics. Few will know our content." Emile Zola Cremation has taken place and ashes will return to Ontario at a future date.

I went to DBC with Jody in the 70's. He loved to torture me with a photo that he took from behind, with my long hair covering up my bathing suit straps so that it looked like I was topless. All in good fun! We live in southern Ontario but saw his obituary in the paper while on holiday in Nipigon. Amazing enough, we used to live near Winkler in the late 80's/early 90's and still have many friends there. My condolences to his wife, children and grandchildren. I really liked Jody. Praying for you all as you grieve his passing.
