John Albert BrownMr. John Albert Brown, aged 85 years, of 94 Shipley Street, passed away peacefully on October 30, 2001 at St. Joseph's Hospital.Born in Glamis Bruce County on September 14, 1916, he moved with his family to theThunder Bay area at age 20.John worked at various bush camps and farms until serving in the Navy from 1942 to 1945.He then worked for the Thunder Bay Grain Trimmers, until his retirement in 1982.John's maininterests were his home and family and spending time with his grandchildren was especially enjoyable.He enjoyed curling, hunting and fishing at 'Camp 83' and camping at Cloud Lake.John held many positions within the Loyal Order of Moose Port Arthur Lodge 947, attaining the honour of Past Deputy Supreme Governor of the Moose Association of Ontario and received his Pilgrim Degree of Merit.He was an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 5 and a member of the Naval Association of Thunder Bay.He was a long-time member of Lakeview Presbyterian Church.Survived by his loving wife Verneta, sons Royden (Lois), Glenn, Murray and Craig, son-in-law Keith Sippola, grandchildren John, Jason, Kyle, Daniel, Bryan, Mitchell, Caitlin, Annie, Billy, great grandchildren Jacob and Michaela, brother Sandy(Eileen), sister Mary (Tom Jacobsen), sister-in-law Helmi and numerous nieces and nephews.Predeceased by his parents Alexander and Ethel, brothers Bill (Millie), Allen, daughter Lynn Ann Sippola (2001) and nephew Carl Jacobsen. A memorial service will be held on Monday,November 5, 2001 at 11:00 a.m. at Lakeview Presbyterian Church, 278 Camelot Street, with Rev. Gwen Ament officiating.Cremation has taken place and interment will take place at Sunset memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Thunder Bay Diabetic Association, Northern Cancer Research Foundation or St. Joseph's Complex Care Group.Jenkens Funeral Home in care of arrangements."
