John Ferguson Obituary
FERGUSON, John Andrew (Jack) It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband and father Jack, on November 23, 2014 at St. Joseph's Care Group Hospice. Jack lived life to the fullest and never wanted to leave us. He was born on Valentine's Day, 1929 in Port Arthur. Jack and Val enjoyed many happy years together, having just celebrated their 65'th Wedding Anniversary. Jack was employed 40 years with the Thunder Bay Telephone Department, eventually retiring as Central Office Foreman. Throughout his life, some of the things he enjoyed where, hunting and fishing, and many years in his trailer at Amber Lite Camp Ground. He loved spending his Wednesday afternoons at the local 55 Plus Club with his retired co-workers. Jack always looked forward to his shopping excursions to Duluth, beautiful Hawaii and most of all his home and family. Jack is survived by his devoted wife Valerie, Daughters Judy Vance, Barbara, (John) Morancy, Susan Ferguson, (Eric Janhunen), and brother-in-law Peter Thomas, (Joan), whom he lovingly raised from an early age, and considered his son. Also surviving are Grandchildren, Paul Asmunt (Liisa), Jennifer Asmunt, (Sandro), Colin Morancy, (Lana), Morgan Minkus, (Ryan), Nadine Herbert, (Stef), Jenna Herbert, (Matt), Great Grandchildren, Brittany and Jordon Asmunt, Madelaine and Nate Morancy, Carter and Emmett Minkus and sweet little grandson, Baby Morancy, in Grandpa's arms in Heaven. He is also survived by sisters'-in-law, Betty (Thomas) Forslund, Carol McLeod and special nephews John and Ken Thomas.Jack is predeceased by parents Albert and Maude Ferguson, mother and father in law Alan and Alice Thomas, brother-in-law and best friend, John Thomas and brother-in-law and fishing buddy Bob McLeod.We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Linda Roussel and all of the CCAC staff for the excellent care they provided, enabling us to care for Jack at home. Words cannot adequately express our appreciation to the staff of 4 north, in the Hospice Center at St. Joseph's Care Group for the exceptional and compassionate care given to Jack during his stay. The family also wishes to thank Father James for his prayers and guidance through this most difficult time. In accordance to Jack's final wishes, cremation has taken place. He will be buried very privately by his beloved family at a later date. The family graciously declines flowers, cards and gifts of food. We would rather, instead, that you keep in your hearts, the memory of this wonderful man. We will miss this quiet gentle husband, father and grandfather. Our lives will never be the same without him. He was simply the best, and we will love him forever as he loved us. "
