John Haveman Obituary
Philippians 3:14 'Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. 'John Haveman was taken to be with his Lord and Saviour on January 25, 2001. John was born January 2, 1962 in Guelph, Ontario and was raised in Southern Ontario. He moved to Thunder Bay in 1981 to attend Lakehead University. He established Haveman Brothers Forestry Services with his twin brother Dave in 1984 and worked with his brother until the day of his death. John was devoted to his family and church, and especially enjoyed working with and teaching his children to always follow in the way of the Lord. John was currently a board member of the Thunder Bay Christian School and a former council member of the First Christian Reformed Church. Survived by his wife Connie (nee Cramer) and 6 children, Peter, Michael, Jesse, Emily, Allison, Laura and the Lord willing his 7th covenant child in May. Mother Susan Haveman, sister Carla Bergin, brother Ron (Joyce) all from Sarnia, sister Liz (Kasey) VanderVeen, Holland, Michigan and twin brother Dave (Melinda) Thunder Bay. Also sadly missed by Connie's parents Gerrit and Dina Cramer, and brother and sisters Alice (Andy) Fred (Alice), Albert (Angie), Miriam (Harry), Lydia (Bert), Randy (Tammy), Ray (Anita) and Gerrit (Kelly). Also numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive. He was predeceased by his father John Haveman in 1998. Funeral services will be held on Monday January 29, 2001 at 1:00 p.m. in the First Christian Reformed Church, Arthur Street, with Rev. Peter Moelker officiating. Interment will follow in Stanley Hill cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held on Sunday evening from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. in the First Christian Reformed Church. Removal will be made from the Blake Funeral Chapel prior to visitation time. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Thunder Bay Christian School would be appreciated.A tree will be planted in memory of John Haveman in the Blake Funeral Chapel Memorial Grove. Annual Dedication service Sunday, June 23, 2002."
