The family of John William Kruzick sadly announces his peaceful passing on Monday, August 1, 2022 at Roseview Manor.
John was born in Port Arthur to John & Mary Kruzick on October 31, 1934. He grew up in Current River, attending local schools and went on to train as an auto mechanic. He was employed at Abitibi-Thunder Bay division from 1960, starting as a heavy duty vehicle mechanic until his retirement in 1990 from the position of Woodroom Superintendent.
John married Betty Visseau on October 13, 1956 and they created a lifetime of happy memories in their 65 years together. They raised 4 children and later welcomed 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren - all of whom brought much joy into his life.
John spent many years camping at Kab Lake and travelling with Betty, discovering other places together.
If you knew John, you know he loved hunting and fishing - and many, many hours were spent creating fond memories with his closest family & friends in the bush or on the lake. You'd often find John in his garage at home working on one project or another - whether it was his Jeep, a bike, or a boat trailer. It was his happy place when he wasn't camping, hunting or fishing.
John also spent a few years volunteering at the Port Arthur Curling Club and, of course, curling - as his many trophies will attest to. In years past he was a member of the Lakehead Outboard Boating Club, racing at Boulevard Lake, and was also a champion bowler.
He is survived by his wife, Betty, daughter Denise (Hugh) Paxton, son Jim and daughter Julie (Shawn). Grandchildren Tom (Robyn), Jason (Gina), Kayla, Austin, Adam & Audrey. Great grandchildren Parker, Fisher, Archie, Lexus & John along with 2 sisters and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
John was predeceased by his son David in 1987 and his parents, John & Mary.
Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of LIfe will be held 11:00am on Tuesday, August 9, 2022, at Our Lady of Loretto Church followed by a reception at Current River Rec Centre from 12pm to 4pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to Dew Drop Inn, Lady of Loretto Elevator Fund, Alzheimer Society of Thunder Bay, or to a Charity of Your Choice.

Dear Betty and family,
Dear Betty and family, Bob and I were saddened to hear of John's passing. He was an amazing man with great presence. The first memory I have of cousin John was when he came to Armstrong on a hunting trip with his Dad. It was quite the party. Always happy, welcoming and gentle. He will be missed. Please accept our condolences at this sad time. Norma and Bob

Dear Betty, Denise & Hugh, Jim and Julie & Family.
Betty and I were very sad and sorry to hear of John´s passing. John was a great person and friend. He always had a special friendly smile when acknowledged by his presence at the PACC and then it was time for a beer and a discussion on the annual fishing trip with the boys at Billy Glens cottage on Obonga Lake or the next curling bonspiel we would attend. I will cherish some great memories over the years curling in the Mens and Forester´s Mixed league and Bonspiels. Know that when we lose a loved one here on earth, we gain an angel in heaven that watches over us. May you take comfort in knowing that you have an angel to watch over you now. We extend our most sincere condolences.
