Yesterday

We spent many years at Pass Lake beside John and had many campfire stories told by him. Later on he always enjoyed taking my grandkids for a golf cart ride. He will be missed for sure. Our condolences to the entire family.

So many fond memories of uncle John and the pumpkins he grew carving the names into them, the visits to our camp and his joking personality.

The many breakfasts he, dad and the gang had on Sundays. I´m sure dad will be waiting to have breakfast together again.

Thoughts and prayers are with you all.

We are John´s Alberta Family-Sisters of Drene-but John was our brother. He was very kind, a big grin and a big laugh. John loved practical jokes and we were all targets! There was the Christmas when he switched the gift tags so it looked like all the nice gifts for our Mother came from him-he got away with that for a couple of days before he was found out. There was the saga of the very large ugly old running shoe that he gave our Mother for her birthday. He had found it on the highway. She in turn gave it back to him for Christmas with a pair of ugly socks. John then sent it as a package to Faye at her work place-the Royal Bank. It made many trips from Thunderbay to Alberta and back before our Mom found it buried in her deep freeze and decided it was time to burn.

Elaine and her Family had a memorable camping trip in the Bow Valley with Drene and John where all five of her kids in imitation of Uncle John started saying "Darn tootin´. For Newton!" Apparently it lasted for months and drove her a little crazy!

We love the Christmas letter from Santa mailed from the `North Pole´ on their Alaska trip. A wonderful letter that the boys loved. The last line though made mention that Santa was tired of cookies and milk and this year could they leave a nice glass of whiskey and a cigar!

Faye spent many years travelling with Drene and John on road trips every September. Lots of fun and adventures.

Who doesn´t remember the big campfire gatherings and bbq´s at the farm?!

We were lucky to have John in our family and we are now diminished with his passing.

Godspeed John. Until we meet again.

Sincere Condolenses to John's family.
John, my cousin Drene's husband, we called him Uncle growing up. He was such a nice guy, ridiculously funny. Don and I and our kids will fondly remember him, the bonfires and roasting polish sausages. "swapping tales and telling lies"

Condolences to the family. I worked as a summer student on grass cutting detail at the Board of Education in the summer of 75. John was a great boss and really took an interest in what us young kids were doing.

My condolences to the family on the passing of a wonderful man. Knew him and Drene from their days dealing at the bank I worked at. So glad they had many travel trips together after retiring. RIP
