John Nicholas, age 80, passed away on Tuesday, December 14th, 2010 at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre. A most beloved husband to Donna, father to Wayne (Bev), Jim (Liz), Donna LaBelle, Sherri-Lynn Angle (Wayne), Christine Wozniak and step-son Joseph Martin (Irene); brother to Bob (Ramona), Stella Nicholas, Julia Nicholas, and Marilyn King. John is survived by 15 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Especially dear to his heart was granddaughter Lawni LaBelle-Paynter who was always there for him and such a comfort and help these last few years of his illness. John was predeceased by his parents and siblings Don, Ron, Jim, Vi, Toni and Ellen. John worked at the elevators for a number of years then at Olgilvy Mills for 34 years until he took early retirement in 1993.Shortly after he became a crossing guard and a fixture on the corner of James and Victoria, where his signature hat and friendliness endeared him to many. He loved that job and did it for 14 years taking diligent care of the children's safety. John was a good and kind man who is much loved and will be greatly missed by all whose life he touched. A Memorial service will be held at Redwood Park Church, 2609 Redwood Avenue, at 11:00 am on Monday, December 20th, 2010.
