John Oger Obituary

February 14, 1950 -
April 30, 2022

With sorrowful hearts we mark the passing of John David Oger, age 72, of Amethyst Harbour, Shuniah. John grew up in Port Arthur, Ontario and attended Hammarskjold High School. Later he continued his education to become a Class A Mechanic and Millwright. John's confidence and tenacity soon earned him the reputation of being a man who could fix anything. His kindness turned customers into friends. John found joy in helping others, but first and foremost he was devoted to his family who will always be grateful for his patience, generosity and love. John was predeceased by his parents John and Rosemary Oger. Left to mourn are his wife Christine (nee Halabisky), his four children, four grandchildren and six siblings along with nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws. Sons: Derek Oger (Sarah Jacoba), Rory Oger (Lisi Montano). Daughters: Laura Kling (Ian Leclair), Candace (Kevin) Morrow. Grandchildren: Nathan and Ray Oger, Caitlin and Michael Morrow. Brothers: Dan (Diane) Oger, Ron (Sherry) Oger, Allan (Trudy) Oger. Sisters: Faye (Mike) LaBelle, Debby (Roger) Sutton, Sharon (Bob) Smith. A private family celebration of life will take place this summer. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of John to the Charity of Your Choice.

My condolences to the Oger family. I knew John when he worked for Ed Bonazzo. He was the only guy to correctly diagnose my carburetor problems on my '76 Plymouth. He had an absolutely uncanny diagnosing skill. I worked at Fort Ignition and then Napa Auto parts and dealt with him right up to a couple years ago. He was always doing something for someone and was very proud of his shop, especially the new wood doors he installed. I will sure miss his wit an his kind words. Rest in peace my friend.

Our condolences. Although we never met John, we know he was much loved and admired by his son Derek and family.
