The family of John (Jack) Raynard of Thunder Bay is saddened to announce his passing on February 13th, 2023 at the age of 88 years old.
Jack was born January 3rd, 1935 in Port Arthur, Ontario to parents Alexander and Hazel Raynard. Jack would share stories about getting up to “no good” out at the family camp at Trout Lake and fondly told us about getting into trouble with his cousin Ian Raynard.
Jack wore many hats (mostly bucket hats) throughout his life. Jack and his cousin Ian owned and operated Superior Lumber in Thunder Bay and Marathon. After Superior Lumber Jack went to work as a shop carpenter at Nordican Boat Company until his retirement. Retirement would not slow Jack down! Jack would spend his time volunteering where ever he could. He volunteered at the 1995 World Nordic Games held at Big Thunder (and still proudly wore his Nordic Game jacket every year, every winter ever since). For many years he would help at the Trout Lake Camper Days organizing egg toss, three legged races or whatever game/swim that would be the most fun. Jack also devoted his time helping friends around Trout Lake where ever he could. He truly was the kindest man.
Jack will be lovingly remembered by his best buddy of 37 years Mary Ewert, and his children James (Christine) Raynard, Jane Anne (Andy) Bray, Jacklyn (Andrew) Raynard, and Jake (Jerrid) Raynard. His grandchildren Steven, Nicole and Samantha Bray, Eric and Reegan Lundy and Holly Raynard, his fur baby Bella, and his niece and nephew Jennifer and Trey. He will also be missed by his good friends Bryan and Margy McKay and many other close friends.
Jack was predeceased by sister and brother-in-law Patty and Bill Walker, parents Alexander and Hazel Raynard, Ian Raynard, Marg Raynard and Joyce Raynard.
Cremation has taken place and as per Jack's wishes there will be no funeral, but a Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, February 26th, 2023 from 11:00am to 2:00pm at North McIntyre Recreation Centre, 2051 Government Road.
We would like to thank the staff at PR Cook for their exceptional care over the past 3 years during the time he resided there.
Jack was passionate about helping others in need. He would donate as much as he could and whenever he could to the Dew Drop Inn, the RFDA, and many other charities throughout the world. If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, donations to a Charity of Your Choice would be greatly appreciated by the family and Jack would be thankful too.

Jack was my cousin. My mother, Eileen Scott,(Raynard), was his aunt. Jack and Ian were much older than us but I remember him as a very friendly and kind person. He came and helped me move my parents out of their home. Mom and I went to Jack´s birthday party at the 55plus. She was very fond of him . I am very sorry for your loss.

To ALL Jack's Family & Loved Ones:
I totally agree with Jack being kind...& gentle...& loving.. .& patient...& giving of his time/attention...even to little children. I too have VERY fond memories of "Uncle Jack" at Trout Lake as a young child. Jack always had time for us "youngins" & had a way of making a kid feel special..
when often most other adults were too busy doing "grownup" stuff. As I grew up I came to realize just what a special man Jack was. I will ALWAYS hold a special place in my heart for my dear Uncle Jack & I will miss him dearly. All who knew him were indeed blessed!!
