JOHN WOJCIECHOWSKI
John Edward Wojciechowski (Wochy), son to Christine Bakos and John Wojciechowski, and brother to Frank (Jean)Wojciechowski, and Paully (Glenn) Mills. John was born November 3, 1940, and passed unexpectedly at the age of 83. John was tragically predeceased by his son Jeffrey Allan, and is survived by his wife Donna; his children Sherri (Derek) and Wendy (Zdravko); his grandchildren Hunter, Tyler, Shayla and Jacob; his great-grandchildren Hazel and Ari; and a new little baby girl along the way in the new year.
John lived a long and full life, enjoying the outdoors and taking part in all manner of athletic and recreational activities to keep himself busy. He and his wife Donna loved to travel and spent many years going to various hot destinations. They enjoyed special occasion gatherings with the family and entertaining and spending many summers out at the Ignace family camp.
He pitched for the Kellogg's Dairy softball team; was a pit crew member for Glen Kettering's #37 race cars; played hockey for the Elk's Legion and Fort William Hurricanes; won 3 trophies playing racquetball and 6 trophies bowling, and enjoyed playing golf, tennis, and squash recreationally. He loved watching his favorite sports teams, the Washington Capitals and the Atlanta Braves, whenever they played.
John also enjoyed fishing with his dad and brother Frank at Lac Des Milles Lac, hunting and water skiing on the lake. He also worked out at the YMCA gym, skated every Wednesday and Sunday night, and helped out at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 6 in his spare time.
In his career, John spent 40 years working as the purchasing manager for Intercity Industrial Supply. He also acted as the President of Purchasing Management of Canada during his involvement in the 1981 Canada Summer Games. John was an amazing man who gave so much of himself to his wife and family. He was well-known to many. He will be forever missed.
A huge thank you to all of the Police and Paramedics who arrived so quickly and offered an incredible amount of support and compassion during this very difficult time. In lieu of flowers, a donation if you wish, may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
A celebration of John's life will be held in the lower level reception hall of Harbourview Funeral Centre on Tuesday, October 8, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.
Gone, but not forgotten, not goodbye, but until we meet again.
