JONATHAN NEEGAN Obituary
With deep sorrow, we announce Jonathan Xavier Neegan's passing. Family and friends are invited to attend the wake at the Hearst Funeral Home on Thursday, June 26th, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and again from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 27th, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. (Roman Catholic Church) at Paroisse Notre Dame De L'Assomption Cathédrale, and burial will commence in Constance Lake First Nation at 12:00 p.m. A luncheon will be held at the community hall following the burial. We thank you for your support and presence during this time of remembrance and reflection. May his memory live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Jonathan dedicated over a decade to serving as an Economic Development Advisor with Matawa First Nations Management, where he worked tirelessly to support and uplift First Nations communities. With unwavering dedication, he championed economic opportunities that honoured culture, promoted sustainability, and created pathways for future generations. His insight, humility, and compassion impacted all those he worked with and served.
Jonathan was known for his kind heart, sharp mind, and gentle spirit. His laughter could light up a room, and his wisdom was a guiding force to many. He deeply respected the land, the people, and the strength of community. His legacy lives on in the projects he helped build and the lives he touched.
He will be dearly missed by his family, friends, coworkers, and all who had the privilege to know him.
A devoted father, brother, uncle, cousin and friend, Jonathan was a charismatic, athletic, smart, talented and caring man. Jon positively impacted many people, and he is sincerely missed. Jonathan is survived by his daughter Callista, his sons Xavier and Matthew, his brothers Peter and David, his sisters Eva (Earl) Johnston and Donna Orr, many nieces and nephews, and numerous cousins. Jonathan was predeceased by his parents, Merle and Theresa, sister Verna and brother James. Jonathan X. Neegan passed peacefully at St. Joseph's Hospital in Thunder Bay on Sunday, June 22nd, 2025.
