JOSE MANUEL REBELO
Jose Manuel Rebelo, age 63 years, passed away peacefully with family by his side on Tuesday, August 19, 2025.
Joe (or Mannie as some knew him) was born on January 29,1962 in Sao Miguel, Azores, Portugal. He immigrated to Canada in 1975 with his brothers, mother and father. He enjoyed playing soccer and watching his favorite Portuguese team, listening to music (Neil Diamond), going fishing and camping, making pimenta, Portuguese chorizo and eating spicy foods. Joe enjoyed entertaining and spending time with family and friends and always shared an abundance of food and drink.
Joe will be missed and remembered by his spouse Angelle; his son Joshua (Erica); brothers Carlos (Linda), Ilidio Ponte (Aurelia), Edward Ponte (Genevieve) of Toronto, Mariano Ponte (Connie) of Mississauga, sisters-in-law Espirtosanto Ponte of Toronto and Anna Kerr (Steve); nephews and nieces Allan (Trisha), Aaron, Andrew, Christina McSherry (Brett), Giueseppe Quaresima; and great niece Winnie. He is survived by other numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces, great nephews and great nieces.
Jose was predeceased by his twin brother Paul George (1979); brother Alcides Ponte (2011); mother Maria Rebelo (2006); father Manuel Ponte Rebelo (1982); as well as other aunts and uncles.
The Rebelo Family would like to thank the incredible care team at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre (Dr. Moorehouse, Dr. DelPaggio, Dr. Simpson, as well as the nursing staff on 1A), Father Larry, Harbourview Funeral Centre (Michael, Giovanna), Jim of Vaillant Florists and also to the family and friends who provided much love and support during this difficult time.
A celebration of Jose's life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 27, 2025 in the R. Leino Memorial Chapel of Harbourview Funeral Centre, presided by Rev. Msgr. P.M. Stilla. Private interment will follow in St. Andrew's R. C. Cemetery. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service, at 12:00 Noon.
