Mr. Joseph R. Landry, age 56 years, a resident of Thunder Bay, passed away suddenly but peacefully in the Thunder Bay Regional Health Science Centre, on May 19, 2013 with family by his side.Born in Nipigon, Joe moved to Thunder Bay in 1976 and was employed at Great Lakes Forest Products (now Resolute) for more than 30 years and was about to retire in July. Over the years, Joe was very active in sports, playing broomball, baseball, bowling, even the odd game of golf, and he was a life-long Toronto Maple Leafs fan. But the summer was Joe's favourite season where he thoroughly enjoyed spending time at camp with family and friends, especially during the Annual August Long Weekend gatherings at Polly Lake.Joe will be lovingly remembered by his wife Jackie (nee Imhoff) his children; Heather Landry and Carmel Whittaker (Duane), his beautiful granddaughters; Jeslyn and Sophie Whittaker, his sisters; Jackie Pajunen (John), Barbara Landry, Fern Schiiler (Chris), Maria Landry, Tillie Landry (nee Borg) and Oneida Lehtonen, his brothers; Daniel Landry (Karen), Claude Landry and Tom Borg (Donna). Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive. Joe was predeceased by his father Alcid Landry and his mothers, Gretchen Morriseau and Lorraine Borg.Our Joe was a good and kind man, a great father and grandfather and a wonderful husband.A Celebration of Joe's Life will take place at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 25th, 2013 in the Chapel of the HARBOURVIEW FUNERAL CENTRE, 499 North Cumberland Street. Visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to service time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joe's memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.He will always be loved, forever be missed,and will live on in our memories,but especially our hearts...On-Line Condolences may be offered
