JOYCE JEFFERSON Obituary

JEFFERSON
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joyce Jefferson (Stewart), beloved mother, grandmother, and dedicated educator, who passed away peacefully on August 5th, 2025 at the age of 86.

Joyce devoted her early years to shaping young minds as a primary school teacher, a role she held with pride, patience, and passion. Her classroom was filled with laughter, learning, and the love of children.

Outside of the classroom, Joyce found joy in the simple pleasures of life - square dancing with friends, travelling, camping, reading and spending time with family.

Joyce was predeceased by her loving husband Wally Jefferson. Together, they raised two wonderful children, Gord and Jodi (Tony) who carry on her legacy of kindness and strength. She was a proud grandmother to five grandchildren Aspen, Eliza, Doris, Oliver, and Charity who she enjoyed caring for in her younger years. Joyce also had 2 great grandchildren that she enjoyed hearing stories about, watching videos and seeing their pictures as they grew.

Joyce is survived by her brother Jim Stewart. He and Audrey were a great support.

Joyce will be remembered for her, unwavering dedication to her family. Her strength, grace, and spirit will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know her.

Thank you to all the staff at Pinewood Court for their care, patience and compassion over the past 10 years. Also thank you to Joy, Marnie, and Sherry who supported her through these last years.

Cremation and interment has taken place. As per Joyce's wishes no service will be held.

After 30 years she and Wally will finally be dancing again.

My condolences Jody and Gord. Your mom was an absolute wonderful person. Nothing but great memories of her and Wally back in the day.

My condolences on Joyce´s passing. I had visited with her at Pinewood over these last years and had enjoyed our conversations as she shared about her family in particular. Sadly, I don´t believe she knew who I the last times when I came to see her. May you all be comforted by your memories. Rev. Joyce Yanishewski, minister, St. Andrew´s Presbyterian Church.
