JUDITH PETRIK Obituary

JUDITH VICTORIA PETRIK (Lang) January 4, 1945 - November 10, 2025
~Psalm 23:6
"Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever."

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dearest Mother, Sister, Amma, Judith Victoria Petrik (Lang). Judy left her earthly body to enter her heavenly home peacefully surrounded by loved ones.

Judy grew up in Thunder Bay attending FWCI. After high school, Judy worked at Bell Canada as a telephone operator. Although a shortly lived job, Judy met many lifelong friends.

Judy met the love of her life, John Petrik, as he was driving up and down Victoria Ave in his fancy car. They married Oct 31, 1964, on Halloween day, as they said it was the only day they could get off work! Shortly after, they moved to Red Rock when John got a job at Domtar. They started out in small trailer before moving into their family home at 16 Steele Street. Mom was a proud homemaker raising 4 children and being their whole support. Mom was involved with the community and loved everyone, whether it be perming friends hair or babysitting. She was on both the public school board and the Nipigon Hospital Board as an advocate for change and helped support the "new hospital" build.

In 1984, mom ventured off to find a career. She started her career by covering a maternity leave at Dewhurst Insurance, which led her to getting her insurance licence and becoming a broker. She enjoyed everyday being there to help in anyway possible. She gained lifelong friendships through this change in life.

Judy brought beauty into the world in everything she touched, especially through her lifelong passion for gardening. Her flowers were more than plants; they were an expression of her care, her patience, and her belief that life is made brighter by small, tender things always. Her love of flowers and gardening was shown everywhere she went from her home to camp, amazing everyone that saw them. She found peace there and would "escape" to her garden often.

Mom was also the best "Amma" to her 7 grandchild. She was always present in everything they all did! She cherished her grandchildren deeply, celebrating their milestones, nurturing their dreams, and giving them a love they will hold with them always. But above all, she was devoted to all her family. Summers at Loon Lake were treasured. Surrounded by all her family.

She was an amazing women who always saw life as "wonderful" and "blessed".

She instilled Christian morals and values and showed us how to live life with kindness and generosity.

She was a role model on how to deal with life's challenges. Always seeing the good in some of the hardest and darkest days. She lived life to the fullest and had the most positive outlook. Judy believed things would always get better, it's all in God's plan.

Judy will lovingly remembered by her children, son John Jr. Petrik; son Rod Petrik (Kellie); grandson Mitchell (Samantha); daughter Janna Macdonald. Grandchildren Brett, Maddison, Cassidy; daughter Jennifer Wiita (Hank); grandchildren Heikki (Shannon); Sonja, Kiira (Luke); brothers Ken Lang (Shirley) and Rick Lang (Lorraine) and many nieces and nephews.

Judy is predeceased by her beloved husband John; parents Harry and Evelyn Lang; sister Elizabeth Manahan (Don).

A special thank you to all the doctors, NP and nursing staff at the NDMH for the care for Judy over these last months.

Celebration of life will be held on Friday, December 5th, 1pm at Transformation Church, 303 Pruden St., Thunder Bay.

Yesterday

Firstly, a most beautiful obituary..

I have many fond shared memories of your mother as well as all the family over several years when you lived in Red Rock.
I was so sorry to hear of her passing and my thoughts are with each of you and your families .. I am sure she will be a great loss but take comfort in the many memories and times shared. Time, however long will ease the pain and know she is no longer in any discomfort.

Sincerely,
Sheila Seagris and family
