JUNE COPP Obituary

After a long and graceful journey, our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend and wife, June Bette Copp (nee Swanson) passed away peacefully on November 5, 2025 with family by her side.

June was born in Port Arthur, Ontario. Graceful in spirit and radiant in presence, in 1957, June wore the crown of Miss Lakehead Chapter Credit Union Queen with poise that reflected both her inner and outer beauty. In 1960 she married her best friend and the love of her life Joseph William (Bud). Together, they built a beautiful life in Nipigon, Ontario, rooted in love and raising their four children as well as developing, owning and operating many successful businesses.

From humble beginnings, they grew a legacy - through hard work, faith, and an unshakable determination that shaped generations to come and the foundation of Nipigon itself. She drove the big yellow bus for their business, Copp Bus Lines, and she loved each child that came aboard for decades; Nana knew every name, every smile, and every story. She was an avid and devoted member of the Catholic Church of the Annunciation as well as a member of their CWL; her life was guided by a deep and steadfast faith.

Fifteen years ago, a massive stroke changed the course of her life, yet her spirit remained unshaken. In the stillness that followed, her love found new ways to reach us; through her eyes, her touch, and the quiet strength that filled every room she entered. Though time reshaped her days, her heart never wavered. She leaves behind a legacy of deep tenderness, resilience, and the unspoken beauty of a life fully loved.

Predeceased by husband Bud, her parents; Oscar and Marie Swanson, brothers - Karl and Gus Swanson, sister; Anna Larocque, daughters-in-law Cami Copp and Donna Cizmar, son-in-law David Tinnes; she is survived by her children; Shayne (Lisa) of Nipigon, Wayne (Cindy) of Calgary, Fred (Jessica) and Kimberley all of Thunder Bay, her grandchildren Kaila (AJ), Ashton (Mike), Lauren (Jordan), Spencer (Kelsey), Shay (Brie Ann), Kelsey (Terry), Kiera, Larissa and Wyatt, her sisters Caroline, Gladys, Isabel (Ray) and Gloria (Fern) and sister-in-law Margaret Ann; along with thirteen great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, and nephews.

June, in her health, was a steadfast heartbeat of her community; always the first to show up, lend a hand or offer a warm word to anyone in need. Her love endures in the hearts of all who knew her. We take comfort in knowing she is reunited with Papa and all other lost loved ones in the presence of God. Now freed from the limits of this world, she speaks again in heaven, her voice joined with the angels, forever echoing the love she gave so generously here on earth.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 29, 2025 at Annunciation of Blessed Virgin Mary Church, 26 Second Street, Nipigon, where the Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Fr. Cajetan Ukacki at 12:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, a donation may be made to the Nipigon District Memorial Hospital.
