KARL JÖRGEN KNUDSEN June 21, 1946 - August 14, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Karl Jörgen Knudsen, who left us peacefully on August 14, 2025 at the age of 79. A devoted father, husband, grandfather and true outdoorsman. Karl lived life with the quiet patience of a fisherman and the steady resolve of a hunter.
Born in Gadevang, Denmark, Karl immigrated to Sarnia, Ontario at a young age with his parents and brother where he developed a love for the outdoors while camping at Rock Glen. He met the love of his life, Catherine "Katie" Kenney and they were married in 1968. They set out for an adventure in 1970, moving North to Dryden, Ontario to teach school and enjoy what Northern Ontario has to offer. Karl taught Geography at Dryden High School for his entire career. Together, Karl and Katie started their family and had three loving children that brought them great joy. Karl was an excellent father and later in life enjoyed the excitement of becoming a Grandpa. Karl and Katie travelled and explored many places. When he wasn't travelling or visiting his family, you could find him fishing which was his true passion. He loved the outdoors, hunting, gardening, and travelling. Karl will be deeply missed by all of his family and friends.
Karl is survived by his children Kerry Brosseau (Richard), Krista Genyk (Chris Smith) and Colin Knudsen (Alexis); grandchildren Kristian, Marissa, and Joella Brosseau, William, Erik, and Evan Genyk, and Jaxson, Emelia, and Alec Knudsen; mother Dina Knudsen and brother Paul Knudsen.
He is predeceased by his beloved wife, Catherine Knudsen (nee Kenney); and father Kristian Knudsen.
Special thanks to the caring staff at Hogarth Riverview Manor Daffodil.
A private Celebration of Karl's Life will be held at a later date. Should friends so desire, memorial donations can be made in Dad's name to Toronto Dementia Research Alliance (TDRA) or Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters and would be greatly appreciated.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the WESTFORT CHAPEL, 420 West Gore Street at James.
