Karl Irwin Montgomery

1936 - 2023

Karl Irwin Montgomery, aged 86 years, passed away peacefully at the TBRHSC with family by his side on Sunday, February 26, 2023. Karl was a devoted father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. Karl was born in Fort William, ON on May 23, 1936 to Marguerite and Samuel Montgomery. Karl worked at Great Lakes paper mill for 46 years retiring in the early 90's. In Karl's early years he enjoyed travelling, hunting and camping at Kab Lake. Karl enjoyed driving around town and offering a ride or a helping hand to anyone who required one. After his retirement, Karl had moved to Atikokan, ON where he had resided until 2016. Karl is predeceased by his mother Marguerite, father Samuel, brother Gary and son Randy. Karl is survived by his children Scott, Daniel (Tamara), David, Donald and Kathleen as well as grandchildren Chris, Jason, Danielle, Samantha, Nicole and many others. Karl was also survived by many great grandchildren. Karl loved his dog “Minnie” who passed away in 2015. Our family would like to express our extreme gratitude to the staff at Southbridge Pinewood on Sandpiper where he resided since 2019, as well as the hemodialysis unit. We would like to thank Karl's granddaughter Samantha for being a big support throughout Karl's medical journey. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be announced at a later time.
