Karl Petersen Obituary

Karl Wolfgang Petersen, formally of Birch Street, passed away peacefully at Bethammi Nursing Home Tuesday, April 14, 2015 with Family by his side. Karl was born in Wolfgruen, Germany and came to Canada in 1966. He married Tina in 1969 and they went on many hunting and fishing trips together. They had two children, Andrea and Christopher, who Karl was very proud of. Karl spent many hours working in his garden which he loved. He also enjoyed making sausage, bacon and smoked fish for his family. Karl worked at Great West Timber for 33 years as a millwright. He is survived by his wife Tina of 46 years, daughter Andrea, son Christopher (Lisa), sisters: Renate Gerber and Irene Hausser, grandchildren: Zenobia, Dainen, and Abbey and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Karl and Luise Petersen, step father Willie Lachmann, brother Siegfried Petersen, brothers-in-law Karl Heinz Gerber and Arnold Hausser and son-in-law, Robert Cieslik. Many thanks to the wonderful staff on the 3rd floor at Bethammi, you were Karl's extended family and he loved all of you. Funeral Service will be held at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church on Monday, April 20th at 12:30 pm with Pastor Matthew Diegel presiding. Reception to follow from 2 pm to 4 pm at the Georgian Room at St. Joseph's Heritage. A private burial will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Bethammi Nursing Home in care of St. Joseph's Foundation or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Tina, Chris and Andrea, I am truly saddened to read about Karl's passing. I am glad that I got to know him and listen to his hunting stories. He was a very funny man and I will miss him. Vern Fiddler

So sorry for your loss. Hubert and I are not able to attend the funeral and visitation but our thoughts and prayers are with you as they always have been. Aino and Hubert Couch.
