Kathleen Mickelson Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of Kathleen Helen Mickelson, age 83 years, announces her passing on November 5, 2001. Born on December 25, 1917, Kathleen was a life long member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #5 and her main interest were her family, home, camping, crafts and her neighbours. She was loved and helped by all her family, especially her youngest great grandson Robbie 'her crazy legs'. Kathleen is survived by her children Marlene, Joyce (Brian) Larrett and Charlie (Pat) Mickelson; four sisters, Lucy Backen, Gladys Bowlier, Helen (John) Kastern and Joan Towell; three brothers, Leonard and Eddy (Trudy) Doran; grandchildren and great grandchildren. Numerous nieces, nephews and life long friends also survive. She was predeceased by her husband Arvid on May 25, 1990, her parents Helena and Bill Doran, brothers George, Bernard and Jack Doran, and sister Dorothy Backen. As in keeping with Kathleen's wishes, there will be no funeral service but a celebration of life will be held on Friday, November 9th, 2001 at 1:30 pm at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #5 on Van Norman St. A private interment will be held at a later date in Riverside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Renal (Dialysis) Unit, The Intensive Care Unit of Thunder Bay Regional Hospital, The Canadian Diabetic Association, The Kidney Foundation or to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #5 Building Fund."
