KENNETH MacKENZIE Obituary

Mr. Kenneth John MacKenzie, age 72 years, passed away at home on Tuesday, January 27, 2025. Ken was born in Port Arthur on January 30, 1952, the son of Evander and Mary MacKenzie. He married the love of his life Lynda Gibbons in May of 1974 and last year they celebrated 50 years of marriage. Ken was a high school teacher in Thunder Bay from 1974 until his retirement in 2007. He truly loved his time as a teacher and the opportunity to mentor students. Ken's love of sports saw him coaching high school teams in football, hockey and senior girls basketball throughout his teaching career. He enjoyed the over 40 years that he and his family spent camping at Shebandowan Shores meeting many wonderful people along the way. His greatest love was for his family, especially his daughter Karen and granddaughter Kendra. Ken will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by his wife Lynda, daughter Karen (Shannon), granddaughter Kendra, sisters Janet MacKenzie and Jo-Anne (Chris) Partridge, sister-in-law Lenore Hoover, brother-in-law Robert (Alba) Gibbons as well as by numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was predeceased by his parents. Cremation has taken place. As expressions of sympathy memorials to the T.B.R.H.S. Foundation or P.R.O. Kids would be gratefully appreciated.

Sorry to hear of the loss of your husband, father and grandfather. Mr Mackenzie had a way of teaching that made things easy to understand. I was in a few of his classes back in the early 80´s. Over the past 40 years I have mentioned to others that Mr Mackenzie was the best teacher I ever had . My condolences.
