Kenneth "Kenny" Untinen, born July 3, 1947 passed away unexpectedly but peacefully in his sleep, on Sunday, July 4, 2010. Kenny was a lifetime resident of Thunder Bay and worked at International Harvester as a Class A Mechanic until its closing. He was a talented musician and played in a band as a young man. Kenny was most happy with a guitar in his hand and singing around a campfire entertaining his family and friends. He was an outdoorsman and spent many years camping, fishing and hunting. His later years were not without struggle, and he was unable to do many of the things he once enjoyed. Kenny is survived by Susan, his former wife; daughter Eileen (Ian) West; grandchildren: Daryl-Lynne, Sam and Hailey; son Len (Jen) Untinen, enroute; granddaughters: Avery and Lily of Georgetown, Ontario; brother Arnold (Leni); sisters: Helen (Jim) Harney, of North Bay, enroute, and Iris (Norm) Slongo. Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive. He was predeceased by his mother Siri in 1986; his father Allan; and brother Ron in 2001. Following cremation, Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 8th, 2010 in the Chapel of Harbourview Funeral Centre, 499 North Cumberland Street, officiated by Rev. Ed Long. Visitation for family and friends will begin one hour prior to the Service. If friends so desire, donations may be made in Kenny's memory to the Salvation Army, or to a charity of your choice.
